Call for individual papersProposals are invited from Association members for individual papers (25-30 minutes) on any area of research relating to Spain, Portugal or Latin America. The conference organisers will attempt to group papers into coherent or logical sessions. An abstract for the proposed paper (150-200 words) should be sent to the Conference Secretary, marked 'AHGBI conference', by 1st October 2005.Call for panelsProposals are invited from Association members for panels (4 papers each of 25-30 minutes) on any area of research relating to Spain, Portugal or Latin America. The panel organiser should arrange for an abstract for each paper (150-200 words) to be sent to the Conference Secretary, marked 'AHGBI conference', by 1st October 2005. Each abstract should indicate clearly the Panel to which it belongs and the name of the panel organiser. The participation of non-members in panels should be agreed in consultation with the conference organisers before invitations are offered. Some money may be available to help cover the costs of an invited speaker. If the proposal is accepted, the panel organiser will be informed and will take on responsibility for organising a Chair for the session. The conference organisers will liaise with the organiser of the panel and it will be the panel organiser's responsibility to ensure that the members of the panel are kept informed of all details relating to the panel.The following panels have already been proposed: * Language (Dr Jaine Beswick, University of Southampton)* Medieval (Dr Barry Taylor, British Library)* Golden Age (Prof. Terry O'Reilly, University College, Cork)* Lusophone Studies (Dr Patricia Odber de Baubeta, University of Brimingham). Para muchos de los territorios americanos el documento gaditano fue su primera Constitución. La primera influencia que ejerció la Constitución de Cádiz fue la de abrir a los territorios de ultramar el camino de las experiencias constitucionales, influencia que, más tarde, se desarrolló en la implantación en la mayor parte de las constituciones iberoamericanas de los dos grandes principios medulares que sustentaron la Carta gaditana: la soberanía nacional y la división de poderes. Este coloquio ha de estudiar las formas que tomaron estas constituciones y sus efectos en la independencia del sub-continente. Papers are invited on the above theme which has been chosen to respond to a growing interest in moving beyond the 'national' in conceptualising film studies in Luso-Hispanic and Latin American Film Studies. At the time of issue of this Call for Papers, Latin American Film Studies is arguably some steps ahead of its European sister disciplines in recording and thinking through transnational issues, especially as regards the South/North traffic of ideas, artists, and products; French and British Film Studies already have the trans-Atlantic firmly on their agendas; Spanish and Portuguese film production -like any others- is thoroughly co-dependent on transnational markets and systems of taste and circulation. By taking these precedents and givens into account, we hope to make of this conference an opportunity to resituate Spanish and Portuguese Film Studies on trans-Atlantic and European axes and to take forward and adapt pre-existing models coming out of Latin American Film Studies (again, by emphasizing the trans-Atlantic). INTERSPEECH '2005 - EUROSPEECH is the sixth conference in the annual series of INTERSPEECH events and the ninth biennial conference of the International Speech Communication Association (ISCA). It will be held September 4-8 in Lisbon, Portugal, following previous INTERSPEECH events in Jeju (2004), Geneva (2003), Denver (2002), Aalborg (2001) and Beijing (2000). Although this interdisciplinary conference will cover all aspects of speech science and technology, INTERSPEECH'2005 will have a special focus on the theme of "Ubiquitous Speech Processing". Proposals for tutorials and special sessionsWe encourage proposals for half-day pre-conference tutorials to be held on September 4, 2005. Those interested in organizing a tutorial should send a one-page description to tutorials@interspeech2005.org by January 14, 2005. INTERSPEECH'2005 also welcomes proposals for special sessions. Each special session normally consists of 6 invited papers, although other formats may be considered. The topics of the special sessions should be important, new, emerging areas of interest to the speech processing community, yet have little overlap with the regular sessions. They could also be interdisciplinary topics that encourage cross-fertilization of fields or topics investigated by members of other societies that are becoming of keen interest to the speech and language community. Durante las Jornadas, se ha programado la participación de varios ponentes y representantes de las universidades más importantes del país (UNMSM, PUCP, UPC, Universidad de Ancash), quienes se aproximarán a la ficción cervantina desde los más diversos ángulos de estudio, así se desarrollarán los siguientes temas:- «Don Quijote para niños: Monteiro Lobato y Sarah Joffré. Cuestiones sobre literatura infantil».- «El Quijote en el guión televisivo de Camilo José Cela».- «Relecturas del Quijote en la música hip-hop». A su vez, académicos como Jorge Wiesse, Carlos Gatti y Marco Martos presentarán, entre otros investigadores, su particular lectura comparatística de la obra cervantina.Las Jornadas se iniciarán a las 11 de la mañana del día martes 11 de octubre, con la intervención del Dr. Jorge Puccinelli, director del Instituto Raúl Porras y presidente de la Asociación Peruana de Literatura Comparada, y la conferencia de apertura «El poeta contemporáneo: un don Quijote», a cargo del destacado poeta y crítico italiano Dávide Rondoni. El miércoles 12, la conferencia de clausura, programada a las 7:30 de la tarde, estará a cargo del reconocido cervantista Javier Roberto González (Universidad Católica Argentina), quien disertará sobre el complejo problema de la recepción de las novelas de caballería en el Quijote.Además de las rondas de ponencias, se realizarán tres importantes actividades dentro del marco de este evento: la presentación del libro Confluencias e Intercambios. La literatura comparada y el Perú hoy. Actas de las Primeras Jornadas Internacionales de Literatura Comparada, un espectáculo sobre la historia de Don Quijote, representado por el grupo ''Colorama'', así como una pequeña muestra bibliófila y objetos sobre el tema, de la colección privada de Raúl Porras Barrenechea, las cuales podrán apreciarse en las mismas instalaciones del Instituto. El ingreso es libre para todas las actividades.
