This is a multilingual, inter-university project developing a Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) online course around the topic of "Cities". The course is being developed for Hong Kong and European learners of European foreign languages. We are looking for someone to help us develop the Spanish part of the project. The ideal candidate will be a qualified teacher of Spanish as a foreign language with at least three years teaching experience, and a competent designer of pedagogical material. The position will be based in Hong Kong (visa sponsoring will be considered for the right candidate).
Duties
The appointee will assist the project leader in the project ? "A telecollaborative e-learning project on foreign language learning".
He/She will be required to:
(a) design and develop online educational materials in Spanish;
(b) maintain interactive media authoring;
(c) establish and maintain contact with Spanish language learning centers in universities in Spain and Hong Kong;
(d) provide assistance in teaching, research and outreach activities; and
(e) ensure the smooth running of the project in respect of budget, communication between project partners and reporting.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have an honours degree or an equivalent qualification in Humanities or a related field with relevant work experience;
(b) be qualified as a teacher of Spanish as a foreign language (ELE);
(c) have worked as a Spanish instructor for at least three years;
(d) have experience developing ELE materials (better if online);
(e) have a high level of English and Spanish proficiency (at least C2);
(f) have effective communication, inter-personal and organizational skills;
(g) be capable to work in an unconventional and multi-disciplinary team; and
(h) be able to work independently, efficiently and under tight timelines.
Preference will be given to those interested in the full time position and to those with first-hand knowledge of Europe and experience in working with European related institutions.

Experience of leadership in the pedagogy of Mandarin Chinese is highly desirable.

The job involves teaching in small classes (max. 10 students). The normal class size is between 4-6 students.
Responsibilities:
- Adhering to the mutually agreed-upon work schedule.

Monthly Salary: HK$24,500 to $27,000 (subject to qualifications and experience), inclusive of MPF contribution. Annual salary progression upon satisfactory performance.

Ref.: Assistant Lecturer in Spanish in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures (Ref.: 201700489) (to commence on July 1, 2017, on a two-year fixed-term basis with a possibility of renewal upon satisfactory performance and availability of funding)
Applicants should possess a relevant Master’s degree with proven expertise in the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language. They should have at least two years’ experience in teaching courses at all levels, and be familiar with recent trends in language teaching and curriculum development at tertiary level. Fluency in English is expected.
The appointee is expected to contribute to the existing curriculum by teaching and designing language courses at all levels, and courses in arts and humanities (Spanish for specific purposes, culture, translation, phonetics, etc.). This is an academic-related post with teaching and administration as the main duties, although research is also valued. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
