The University of Zurich invites applications for an Assistant Professorship in Language and Space in Ibero-Romance. Pending a positive review after three years, the position is limited to a six-year period.
The area of the professorship is within Ibero-Romance linguistics (mainly Portuguese / Spanish), with a focus on the relationship between language and space. Research and teaching will focus on current issues in synchronic / diachronic Hispanic / Lusophone linguistic variation (including questions regarding language structure). The focus should fall within one of the research areas covered by the University Research Priority Program (URPP) Language and Space.
The professorship is integrated in the teaching curriculum and research activities of the Romance department and the area of the URPP Language and Space. Teaching will be carried out in Spanish or Portuguese, the language of administration is German. Non-German speaking candidates are expected to acquire a working knowledge of German. Good proficiency in English is desirable. Candidates have successfully completed a PhD in Ibero-Romance linguistics and obtained an excellent track record for their academic achievements in the relevant field.
