XI Congreso de Literatura Mexicana Contemporánea
Under the frame of the Congress that is well recognized for its quality and dynamics, over 120 scholars integrated to prominent universities from the United States and Mexico and all over the world will share, enrich and discuss themes, tendencies and authors that outline the newest Mexican Literature. Among the institutions participating in this event there are The National Autonomous University of Mexico, The Iberoamerican University, The Veracruzana University, The Metropolitan University, The University of California at Irvine, The University of Texas at Austin, The Brasilia University, The Sao Palo Mackenzie Presbyterian University, The National Polytechnic Institute, The Autonomous University of Puebla, The University of Nebraska, The University of Missouri at Columbia, The Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon, Texas A & M University, Texas Tech University, Sorbonne University, University of California at San Diego, University of Houston and others. Prominent literary researchers and critics will gather at about thirty round tables to discuss topics such as ¿Mexican Poetry on Gay Issues¿, ¿Historic Novel¿, ¿Contemporary Theater¿, ¿Children¿s Literature¿, ¿Identity and Genre of Feminine Literature¿, ¿Women and Homosexual Representation in the New Mexican Literature¿, ¿The Mexican Story in the Post Modern Era¿ or ¿Chronicle as Memory and Representation of History¿ as well as other important issues. Two controversial presentations dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the publication of Juan Rulfo¿s Pedro Páramo will take place. Besides, there will be the discussion table dedicated to Sergio Pitol, recently honored with the world famous ''Cervantes'' Award granted by Spain. Alberto Ruy Sanchez, a renown narrator and essayist, will be in charge of the main conference entitled ¿México Mudéjar: Exploraciones del mestizaje¿ with specific interest for scholars and researchers on the subject. The books from two important Mexican authors will also be included: Encuentros by Federico Patan and La última copa by Saúl Ibargoyen. To conclude the program, new books from Gráficos Eos Editing and the Iberoamerican University will be displayed. The XI Congress of Contemporary Mexican Literature opening ceremony will take place on March 2rd at 9:00 a.m. The round table sessions will start at 10:00 a.m. There will be the morning sessions (starting at 10:00 a.m.) and evening (starting at 3:00 p.m.).
